Dear All,

A reminder and an announcement this month: Our last open meeting of the 2016-17 season is on Friday, 19 May at 7:30pm in the Free Church. Our speaker will be Mike Petty, he will speak on Cambridge Market, It's History and Future?? Mike Petty MBE is a writer, broadcaster, local historian and formerly Local Studies Librarian at the Cambridge Central Library. Many of you may know of him from his writings in the Cambridge newspaper. I look forward to seeing you there.

The announcement is that on Saturday, 24 June the Free Church is opening its doors to an exhibition at which the Civic Society, together with all the other users of the Free Church, have been invited to exhibit. We will be there and plan to show a small selection of the work we have recently been involved in, as we work to fulfil our Legacy Statement: That future generations will be able to recognise the historic character and heritage of our town, despite the inevitable changes that happen down the years. The exhibition will open at 10am and run until 4pm. I will send out more details nearer the time.

Meanwhile, I hope you all have a very pleasant summer, out and about in St Ives.

Kind regards

David Stewart,

Chairman, Civic Society St. Ives
