Dear All

I will start this month with a gentle reminder that our Annual General Meeting will be held on Friday 20th October at 7.30pm in the Free Church. Nominations for membership of the Executive Committee are still open and we do have a vacancy for a Secretary. Dr Tim Reed is willing to remain a committee member but is no longer able to continue as Secretary because the nature of his work is changing.

I’m pleased to say the other existing committee members are happy to continue but we will be pleased if a few more members come forward.

After the AGM I will give my view on Huntingdonshire District Council’s Local Plan to 2036. My talk is called The Local Plan and the Four R’s.

Before we get to our AGM, St Ives in Bloom have invited our members to their AGM next Monday 9 October at 7.30pm in the Corn Exchange. The meeting will include discussion on the coming year’s work and their priorities for St Ives in Bloom.

On a different topic I’ve been made aware of the problems some people living in the surrounding villages are now having difficulty making appointments to fit in with the reduced bus services. If your doctor has advised you of a time for your influenza clinic, and that is not suitable, you can make alternative arrangements with some Chemists. Lloyds in St Ives certainly offer this service.

Kind regards

David Stewart,
Chairman, Civic Society St. Ives
