It’s Music on the Waits time again and the Civic Society is sponsoring the concert with the Ouse Valley Jazz Band and Angela this Sunday, 8 July. The band will start at 2.30. Drop in when you can, entry is free, but there will be a collection.

Ouse Valley Jazz Band

The day promises to be very warm. Based on the experience gained last Sunday the decision has been made that both the audience and the Band will be more comfortable in the Methodist Church. This is regrettable in that I was looking forward to being outdoors again but very understandable in that for the last few weeks I’ve always been seeking shade from the sun.

As the summer rolls on your committee continues to plan for the exhibition of the entries to ‘Your St Ives ‘68’. If you have not entered you still have until 6th September to complete your ideas as to how St Ives may develop and change. The exhibition will be in the Free Church on Friday and Saturday 7th and 8th September and the wining entries will then be on display in the Norris Museum. Further details are on our website at http://www.stivescivic.org.uk/index.php

I’ve recently noticed white surveyor’s marks on several roads in St Ives. Details are still scarce but there are resurfacing works planned for St Audrey Lane from Ramsey Road to Needingworth Road and on to Harrison Way between 30th July and 17th August. The works at the north end of Harrison Way are from the 6th to 10th August. Also from 6th to 10th August New Road will be closed. Then from 20th August to 7th September resurfacing of part of Ramsey Road, North Road and East Street is planned. As I say, details are still scarce so the works may be mainly overnight. Regardless, there is the potential for delays so it will be best to be aware of the works and to plan around them.

After all that I hope you all have a very enjoyable summer, see you on Sunday at 2.30pm

Kind Regards,

David Stewart.
