Your Committee have discussed finding speakers willing to use their computers to give their talk. Whilst we don’t envisage being able to replicate all the benefits of holding our meetings in the Free Church we could achieve some. Below I give details of a talk from Stamford Civic Society. If you watch the talk I will be pleased to hear from you if you would like us to organise our own talks.
Stamford Civic Society (https://www.stamfordcivicsociety.org.uk/) are holding an online meeting by Google Meet this Thursday at 7.00pm.
Their website give the following Details:
Thursday 28 January 7.00pm-8.00pm: Talk by Jeremy Gibbs - a reminder of SCS origins “How Stamford Became the First Conservation Town”.
To join this meeting, click here, a few minutes before 7.00pm: https://meet.google.com/gok-xcfx-iaq from a computer or use the code gok-xcfx-iaq in the Google Meet app on your tablet or smartphone. If using a computer, Google Chrome is the ideal web browser to use with Google Meet.
We look forward to seeing many of you on Thursday 28th
I hope many of you know Stamford, a town once spoilt as traffic on the A1 increased but thankfully bypassed in 1960, (it now needs an east west bypass). The majority of the buildings are built of the local stone and roofed with Collyweston slate. Even though there are many styles of building in the town there is uniformity of colour. I will be very interested to hear the reasons why the town became the first town with a Conservation area.
Google meet is new to me, but the details above will give access by using a computer or by loading the App into a tablet or phone. I will click on the link https://meet.google.com/gok-xcfx-iaq, so far as I can tell it asks only for your name. Setting up the App requires more details.
We look forward to seeing you at one of our events as soon as we can recommence
