Dear All,

Our open meeting this month is Friday 21 April. As advised last Monday our speaker is now to be Sue Knight who will talk on Holmewood Hall - Its History and Surroundings.

Holmewood Hall is a grand Victorian country house in Holme, until recently a conference and event venue, the site has a fascinating history from the 17th Century through to WW2. Before Whittlesey Mere was drained it was close to the mere.

This is a change from the advertised speaker, Jed Jaggard, who we plan to invite for our September meeting.

As you know we meet in the Free Church in St Ives, the Church is planning an Exhibition of Groups using the Free Church on Saturday 24th June, from 10am to 4pm. We intend to have a stand at the exhibition, and of course we shall be pleased to meet you there during the day. The Free Church are also seeking to understand the profile of the Free Church in St Ives and the surrounding areas, and how the building can best be used for the community. They have an on-line survey at https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/S3DXDNS and will be pleased to have as many people as possible complete the survey.

In some ways on a similar theme, the Town Council has an additional website aiming to gather together news of the various activities of the council into one place. This is at

http://flow.stivestowncouncil.gov.uk/what-is-flow/

Early days yet, it's less than a month since launch, but the site is already showing its potential to grow and become very useful.

Kind regards

David Stewart,

Chairman, Civic Society St. Ives
