Dear All,

The final meeting of our current season is on Friday 20th May, at 7.30pm in the Free Church, St Ives. The speaker will be Philip Noble, born and raised in St Ives and now again a resident of the town. His illustrated talk is entitled Green Streets of St Ives. He will be telling us about the area shown in the photo taken by Media Imaging Solutions of St Ives especially for Philip.

St Ives from the airRamsey Road forms the lower edge of the picture, on the left is North Road, in the centre West Street and The Waits to the right. Philip has clear memories of his early life in St Ives and of the many people and families who lived or worked in the area shown in the photo.

Next season we will meet on Friday 15th September, Richard Carter will return to give his talk, Mysterious Photographs - Recent Museum Acquisitions delayed from last February by the strong winds brought in by Storm Eunice. I will write more in September.

The AGM will be in October and I again make an appeal that we need to strengthen the committee. For a year now we have not had a secretary. I will not be offering to continue as Chair after the AGM. This is your Society and we need your help to fill these roles. if you can help please contact me.

Meanwhile I look forward to seeing you at Philip’s talk on the 29th May.

 Kind regards

David Stewart
Chair: Civic Society of St Ives
